MANAGING DIRECTOR - Aruba

 

We are seeking a Managing Director to lead CG United Insurance (Aruba) N.V. CG United is the largest general insurer in the Caribbean and member of the Coralisle Group Ltd. (CG), a leading insurance provider in 24 territories with annual revenues in excess of US$1 Billion. CG is rated A Excellent by AM Best Co., USA., world’s largest credit rating agency.

 

Position Overview

Company:      CG United Insurance Aruba N.V.

Reports to:    Regional Executive Management in Curaçao and Barbados / Supervisory Board

 

The Managing Director is responsible for the overall leadership, strategic direction, and operational performance of CG United Insurance Aruba N.V. The role ensures that the company operates in accordance with CG United’s regional strategy while maintaining full compliance with Aruba’s regulatory framework. The Managing Director leads the development and growth of the insurance portfolio, strengthens broker and client relationships, and ensures sound underwriting, financial discipline, and operational excellence. The role requires strong leadership, deep knowledge of the insurance industry, and the ability to balance commercial growth with prudent risk management.

 

Key Responsibilities

 

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the strategic plan for CG United Insurance Aruba in alignment with the regional strategy of CG United.

  • Identify market opportunities and drive sustainable growth across all insurance lines including property, casualty, motor, liability, health, and specialty products.

  • Strengthen CG United’s market position and brand presence within Aruba.

 

Operational Management

  • Oversee the daily operations of the company including underwriting, claims, finance, compliance, and administration.

  • Ensure efficient operational processes and service excellence for brokers and policyholders.

  • Monitor key performance indicators including premium growth, profitability, claims ratios, and expense management.

 

Regulatory & Compliance Oversight

  • Ensure full compliance with Aruba’s insurance regulatory requirements and reporting obligations.

  • Maintain constructive relationships with the Central Bank of Aruba.

  • Ensure adherence to CG United’s internal governance, risk management, and compliance standards.

 

Financial Management

  • Responsible for the company’s financial performance, including budgeting, forecasting, and profitability.

  • Monitor underwriting discipline and portfolio quality to maintain a balanced and profitable book of business.

  • Ensure accurate financial reporting and capital management in line with regulatory and group requirements.

 

Business Development & Market Relations

  • Maintain strong relationships with brokers, agents, corporate clients, and strategic partners.

  • Identify opportunities to expand distribution channels and introduce innovative insurance solutions.

  • Represent CG United in the local insurance market, industry associations, and key stakeholder engagements.

 

Risk Management

  • Ensure effective underwriting standards and risk selection practices.

  • Maintain a strong risk management culture within the organization.

  • Work closely with regional underwriting and reinsurance teams to ensure appropriate risk transfer strategies.

 

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the local management team and staff.

  • Foster a culture of professionalism, accountability, and continuous improvement.

  • Promote collaboration with other CG United offices within the Caribbean region.

 

Key Performance Indicators

  • Gross Written Premium growth

  • Combined ratio and underwriting profitability

  • Operational efficiency and expense ratio

  • Regulatory compliance and governance standards

  • Broker and customer satisfaction

  • Employee engagement and team development

 

Qualifications

  • HBO or higher degree in either Accounting, Business Administration, Finance, Law or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred).

  • Solid written and verbal communication skills in English, Papiamento, Spanish and Dutch.

  • Professional insurance qualifications (Assurantie A or B, ACII, CPCU, AINS, or similar)are considered an asset.

  • Minimum 5 or more years of experience in the insurance industry, banking or similar, including management experience.

  • Strong knowledge of underwriting, claims management, and insurance operations is preferred.

  • Experience working with regulators and compliance frameworks is preferred.

Authority

The Managing Director has executive authority over the operations of CG United Insurance Aruba N.V., subject to the governance framework, delegation of authority, and strategic oversight of CG United’s regional executive management and Supervisory Board.
